When is teacher’s day celebrated?

Teacher’s day is celebrated 5th September every year in India as it was the birthday of our first vice president who was a teacher by profession. Indian schools celebrate this day enthusiastically and consider it as a festival. 

Why is teacher’s day celebrated?

Teacher’s day is the most auspicious occasion celebrated on the 5th of September every year. It is celebrated to pay tribute to our first vice president Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was our first vice president and as a teacher before becoming the vice president of India. To show respect to our teachers was its second motto. It enhances the respect and dignity of our teachers every year. It also reminds us of our duties to our owner-able teachers. To pay tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and enhance our teacher’s dignity, teacher’s day is celebrated every year.

History of teachers day

In India, teachers are placed equal to god and we respect our teachers from ancient times. When we got our first vice-president, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, we got the exact day to celebrate our teacher’s hard work, dedication towards their students. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a teacher before becoming the president of India. So inspired by him we celebrate 5th September as the teacher’s day every year. The story behind Teachers’ Day goes that when Dr. Radhakrishan took the office of the second President of India in 1962, his students approached him to seek permission to celebrate September 5 as a special day. Dr. Radhakrishnan instead made a request of them to observe September 5 as Teachers’ Day, to recognize the contribution of teachers to society.

Teachers are our nurturers, our parents, and our gods. They are the only ones who can change this earth, shape this earth, and decide the future of the earth. Teachers do not take anything from us, but they provide us with knowledge(the world’s most powerful weapon). They provide us knowledge, manners, creativity, and every skill of life which one needs to reach their goal smoothly. Every great person is shaped by their teachers and even the great Albert Einstein, the scientist we can never forget reached those heights because of his math teacher. They shape society, they shape the future and even our present was shaped by them. In Indian history Kabirdas, the great poet placed teachers even above the almighty God. He placed the teacher above the infinite intelligence and he didn’t do that in spare there were mighty reasons behind it. We would never be able to understand the complete role of teachers in our life. Even in the greatest epic Mahabharta, a teacher fought the full war, not directly but indirectly. Shri Krishna became the charro and teacher of arjuna and helped him to take every right step and because of him, Pandavashis got the victory. Teachers are those beings who are born to help all those who seek knowledge. They are the wheels of society. And at last, I want to say that teachers are those fuels which burn themselves to light others and no one can pay the debt of a good teacher. They are our past, our present, and our future.
